To celebrate the 2014 Youth Pledge, on 24-28 October 2014, PT Meares Soputan Mining (MSM) and PT Tambang Tondano Nusajaya (TTN), held marathon and volleyball competitions for the communities near mine site.
The communities welcomed with enthusiasm the event organized by the Community Department. More than 100 people participated on the marathon and volleyball competitions from eight vilages.
The organizer held the volleyball on the Pinasungkulan village, Ranowulu sub-district, Bitung regency. While the women marathon started from Pinenek village and men marathon from Rinondoran village, East Likupang sub-district, North Minahasa regency. Despite seperated start line, the participants finished on the same location; Pinasungkulan village.
"This event is part of our community program, not just infrastructure and economy, but also developing human resources through sports" said MSM Community Manager, Jenny Zebedeus.
She described that the competitions is for lifting the spirit of The Youth Pledge for young generations around the mine site. "Also to increase relationship between villages near mine site" she added.
To increase the participant enthusiasm, the company provided total cash prize of 15 million rupiah and thropies, and also consolation prizes for participants. The Head of Ranowulu sub-district, Head of East Likupang sub-district, and Head of Ranowulu Police Sector also attended, opened, and closed this yearly competitions.
The men marathan winner is Ibrahim Tampilang from Batu Putih Atas village. While the women marathon winner is Mastin Takaliwang from Pinasungkulan village.
Men volleyball competition winner is Winuri village team, East Likupang sub-district. And the women volleyball winner is Wineru village team. (Hery Sumondor)
